Builder's half model of a New Haven sharpie; alternating strips of walnut (possibly mahogany) and beech; several small scratches; came to MSM without a backboard but two sets of two holes drilled in back show evidence of a backboard; written across back of model in black ink "New Haven, Conn Oyster Sharpie of 1870 - half model by Warren O. Nettleton of Fairhaven [sic] Conn 34 1\2' long 1"=1'"; two metal hooks nailed to back of model; newspaper clipping taped to deck titled "1868 - 100 Years Ago", describes the first appearance of the New Haven sharpie on August 11 1868; ex-collection of Charles F. Sayle, Sr.
