Cribbage board formed by carving on a split walrus tusk, made by Capt. George Comer; marked with name and image of whaling schooner A.T. GIFFORD [built 1883, lost 1913; Comer was master of A.T. GIFFORD on voyages to Hudson Bay 1907 - 1909 and 11 Jan 1910 to 20 October 1912]; tusk has starboard view of A. T. GIFFORD, two whaleboats harpooning whale; three brass 'legs' screwed into reverse of tusk, filled circles on reverse indicate legs moved from original position on tusk; overpainting along fracture; see similar tusk 1940.389 and 1940.390.
