Tea chest; wood box with brown lacquer finish; hinged lid; clasp is round metal disc with round spring central push clasp; lid and face of chest have gold enamel crest with fortress [?] scene and two flags; chest contained liner [95.117.2], contains remnants of tea leaves; chest probably obtained by Captain Timothy M. Benson during voyages to China, bark MARTHA DAVIS, 1878-1889.
