Umiak, skin boat, round bottom; 2 walrus skins, split and stretched over light wooden framework, highly flexible; canvas spray shield around entire rail; 4 thwarts; "A frame" at aftermost thwart; white paint on exterior to retard water absorbtion, otherwise natural with oil finish; equipment: various poles and paddles (2 canoe type), 35 HP Johnson outboard with prop (loose), 5 gallon fuel tank, portable camp stove, cook pot kit; "Whale" brand pump; galvanized turnbuckles; plywood transom for outboard use; plastic binocular case; fire extinguisher bracket; boat rebuilt by John Bockstoce; not a classic umiak which was a hard chine boat; lines of this boat influenced by Yankee whaleboats (per J. Bockstoce).
