Burkehaven Light (N.H.)

Lighthouses--New Hampshire

Burkehaven Light is one of three lighthouses built on Lake Sunapee in the 1890s in an effort to improve the safety of steamboat travel. The lighthouse was destroyed by ice in 1936 and quickly rebuilt. Today the lighthouse is owned by the New Hampshire Marine Patrol Bureau but the structure is maintained by the Lake Sunapee Protective Association. [Ref: http://www.lhdepot.com/]
