Snapshot album of the CHARLES W. MORGAN during the end of the vessel's journey from New Bedford, MA, to its permanent home at Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic, CT; photographs taken in December 1941, album appears to have been created in February 1964. Collection includes 1 postcard (taped to the cover of the album) and 34 photographs taped to the pages of a plastic spiral bound album. Photographic postcard on front cover depicts black-and-white photograph of the CHARLES W. MORGAN against a nearby coast of low hills, small boat off the bow; lower left corner of postcard reads 'WHALING SHIP 'MORGAN' / MYSTIC, CONN'; inside front cover reads, hand printed across top "The Last Voyage of the Charles W. Morgan" above a black and white photograph nearly identical to cover postcard and with printer's date "FEB 1964" along left margin of photo, see 2011.44.1; album includes 33 additional photos with handwritten descriptive captions showing the CWM arriving at Mystic. Handwritten on inside back cover: "To Joe Herman / From Jesse Stinson". Overall fair condition; tape on left side of the postcard on the front cover is lifting; album pages fragile around spiral binding, 6 pages have torn and are loose within the album.
