Wood and baleen ditty box, oval, possibly from Massachusetts. Engraving features neo-classical public building; lighthouse with topsail schooner, small sprit-rigged boat, half and full brigs, and other square-riggers; several houses with trees; fanciful bridge flanked by large clocktower-type structures, supported at mid-span by 2 columns rising from single pier and decorated w/semi-circular sunburst shield. Various ships, sloops & schooners in distance. Double diamond border surrounds base of box, lid top is painted black.
