Kit includes sperm whale tooth, engraving tool, paper instructions, 60-grit sandpaper, 220-grit sandpaper, pumice powder for polishing, and narrative titled “The Story of Scrimshaw” by Edouard A. Stackpole. Box reads: “SCRIMSHAW KIT / Including the story of Scrimshaw / This kit contains a sperm whale’s tooth and all the necessary tools for making your own scrimshaw with complete instructions and illustrations of old scrimshaw. / THE FOUR WINDS – STRAIGHT WHARF – NANTUCKET, MASS. 02554”; example scrimshaw design on right depicts the CHARLES W.
