Scrimshaw tooth with etching of a topsail schooner and an unidentified woman wearing a bonnet; no date, no maker. Etching of vessel depicts the schooner under full sail; an American flag depicted flying from the boom; possibly signed in lower right corner "AS". Reverse etching depicts an unidentified woman wearing a cape and bonnet, style of clothing looks similar to fashion of the mid 1800s. Overall fair condition; bottom edge of first side chipped in rounded "M" shape, 1" crack extending up 3/8" from the bottom left edge; two cracks present on reverse: 1 1/2" crack extending up 1/2" from the bottom left edge, 1" crack extending up 7/8" from the bottom left edge. Overall: 2 5/8 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 in.
