Umbrella, made of whalebone ribs, about 29 1/2" long, a wooden staff with brass ferrule, brass tipped ribs, only one of which remains, and having an ivory handle inscribed: T. Turner/ Jan. 8, 1836. A brass tube 4" long tops the handle shaft, and 2 bands of pewter circle the lower part of the handle. Cover appears to have been blue striped. Originally, the umbrella belonged to Capt. T. Turner of Norwich, Conn. James Turner of Harwichport, Cape Cod later owned it.
