Whale tooth carved into the shape of a whale with point cut off and a new piece carved and attached to resemble a tail, the base resembles the open mouth of a whale, eyes and flippers carved in. Tooth decorated with "SHIP ROCHESTER/ PERU/ 1842/ SEYCHELLES/ VALPARAISO" (Rarotonga). Dark bone ring joins tail to body.
