Rounded inkwell or tobacco pot; faux scrimshaw, possibly made in England in the 1950s. Carved images include a man leaning on barrels of Virginia tobacco, smoking a pipe, a tobacco plant and a ship at sail. One side is inscribed “CHESAPEAKE/BAY/1856/VIRGINIA.” Surface of resin is textured and carved to simulate bone; the Inside is stained. Bottom is lined with black felt.
